It’s an interesting question when you put it in terms of gaming. Do you want to be the good guy or the bad guy? For the most part if you choose the latter in ‘real life’ you will end up in some sort of legal trouble. On the other hand, if you turn into a mass murderer on Skyrim or Fallout you are simply hated, feared and in plenty of ‘virtual legal trouble’.

When I was growing up it was always my mission to save the say with Mario, Zelda or Solid Snake. Now some 20+ years later I am given a choice every time I start an open world game from Bethesda. Is it wrong for me to have two different personas when I play the Elder Scrolls or Fallout?
I usually spend more time with my ‘good guy’ class, but when I have the opportunity to jump in for some slicing and dicing of whoever comes at me sideways – I relish every moment.
The interesting thing about being a bad guy is that you aren’t really every ‘bad’ per se… you are a brutal good guy with a short temper and an itchy trigger finger. In most games you don’t lose an opportunity to finish the main quest and save the day if you have butchered 109 villagers in Skyrim. You are still greeted as a hero after you complete quests or do something else considered ‘good’.
Games like Grand Theft Auto aren’t much different outside of the fact that you are given an opportunity to use bazookas and maybe see some sort of rocking cars late at night or maybe even snipe off the heads of people from a tall building. That is life in a world of absolute digital freedom and debauchery.
The funny thing is that when this comes up in conversation you will see people that either don’t game or hide behind some sort of veneer of being ‘Holier Than Thou’ act like you are terrible person when you talk about being a murderous adventurer and then they go log on to their creeper profile on Second Life or cruise the personal ads on Craigslist.
So, for those of you that have some sort of strange urge to be a villain – do it on a video game. You will feel better and you won’t have any real legal trouble.
Here is your chance – are you a villain or Dudley Do Right when you play these games? Comment Below!
In Madden 13 there is no player potential in Connected Careers. However, in Madden 12 it is one of the more limiting parts of Franchise Mode. If you have wanted to know how to change a player’s potential rating from an ‘F’ to an ‘A’ this is how you do it in your Franchise Mode.
It is also important for you to know that the Potential Rating is dependent on the Overall Rating as you edit. It is easy to calculate a player’s potential when it comes to this:
90-99 OVR = A
80-89 OVR = B
70-79 OVR = C
60-69 OVR = D
59> OVR = F
If you consider how the upcoming movie The Dark Knight Rises it is a distinct possibility that Batman could die. This isn’t really much of a spoiler. You can look up any of the Batman vs. Bane battles and see that Bane actually breaks Batman’s back. This isn’t really meant to be a rundown of Batman’s comic history however.

It should be known that the target audience for the new Batman movie is also the same target audience that many gaming companies push their products to as well. As much as fans of the Dark Knight series seem to worship the story and characters involved with Christopher Nolan’s epic trilogy they don’t really question the story – they enjoy the movie for what it is and go on to buy it on blu ray and tell everyone how great it is/was.
This drives us to wonder what will happen if Batman either dies or ends up like Christopher Reeve… Will fans keep their unwavering support? That question then branches into a new direction. If people love the ending of The Dark Knight Trilogy with Batman either dead or a vegetable – how can they keep getting annoyed with games like Mass Effect 3 when they pretty much end in tragedy as well?
The point is that we have turned into a society (especially in gaming and film) that demands for the hero to save the day, kill the bad guy or simply wait for the credits to end for some hope that we will get to follow the trailers to yet another sequel.
Is it a cop out for people to write a story that ends with a brief glimmer of hope after the credits? Is it considered a failed story about a heroic journey if the hero dies in the process of saving everyone? That strategy seems to work well for The Bible (the best selling book of all time) and even The Matrix (check out a nice rundown of that series over at The Cool Ship) or does it simply not translate to games?
Without spoiling anything (too much) we will leave this as an open discussion but also provide you with some games that have some of the best endings.
Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year
– One of the best games available on this generation of consoles. The story is well written, the voice acting is top notch and the side-quests are numerous enough to keep you playing forever. Without spoiling the ending we can tell you that it is pretty much perfectly scripted in every way a western can be.
Batman: Arkham City (Game of the Year Edition)
– It is hard to tell you that any game is the best you will ever play, but in the spirit of Batman… this is hard to pass up. The game plays smoothly and the story and voice acting is amazing. With the likes of The Joker, Harley-Quinn, Two Face and others it is a game that demands your time.
When you are shooting people online it is a great feeling. When you are getting shot by other people online it is almost enough to make you scream and rage quit (not that I have ever been guilty of that…ahem, anyway…).
If you take a look at the status of gaming and the draw for people to play multi-player games online it is almost the sole marketing campaign for every developer and publisher. This pushes people to level up, buy add-ons, sequels and other accessories all in the name of digital violence.

It seems that Call of Duty is the audio version of what used to be chat-rooms back in the mid/late 1990s. You have all the same characters. The racist, the homophobe(s), the ethnic stereotypes, the wanna-be rappers, the random ‘real girl’ and then the completely silent gamer.
The silent gamer is actually becoming the most common character you will come across in most online multi-player console games. It is interesting because multi-player in its essence gives the impression that there is some sort of socializing. There is in-fact very little socializing in multi-player games and even less team-work. That is when the silent gamer is at his/her most annoying.
Dear Silent Gamer,
We don’t need to know anything personal about you but it would be awesome if you could help your team out instead of camping on a mountain with a sniper rifle. Not to mention, you are kinda bad at your chosen ‘strategy’ and we could use you as support.
Love,
Your Teammates

Madden 13’s Roster Update is going to be live for you on XBox 360 soon… in the form of a Madden 12 Roster Overhaul!

If you have been looking for updated Rosters for Madden 12 will all Rookies and Roster Moves – you are in luck.
There are rosters currently under development with cross-referenced information to make sure all players are correctly listed on Madden 12.
Also, there are efforts being made to find a workaround to mod the entire list of players in Madden as well. As it is currently, EA seems to have put major encryptions within their roster files to protect them from universal edits, etc. Basically, this means that they want to force you to buy their annual roster update for $60+ if you want the new players on your favorite teams.
The first edition will be posted in the next few days. Please be patient as it isa lot of work and tends to be time-consuming. We would appreciate donations as you download these files as well.
Many ratings will be coming from the good people at FBGRatings.com and any other ratings will be strictly from NoobTubeTV.
If you have questions or player requests, please let us know.
For some more fun in Battlefield 3, check out this new video as well!
While this might be a bit of a risky decision, you really don’t have a lot to lose if you try it. Let us know if this helps you as well!
Happy Hunting!
Yesterday was a great day for gaming. 100+ degree heat advisories outside and wonderful air conditioning inside after a morning jog.
A full day of recording footage was on the horizon and nothing was going to ruin that.
After joining up in a squad with a couple of fellow gamers from 2old2play.com (a great site for gamers that are 25+ years of age) we went to work as a team and our scores were showing exactly that. It wasn’t until over 30 minutes in the game that I was booted.
Has this ever happened to you? Which server/admin was it? Put them on blast so other gamers can avoid the same fate of wasted time while playing legitimately. Keep in mind, we weren’t nor do we support spawn camping in any game. So, if you have been booted or banned for doing that – we support the Admins for doing it. Otherwise, shoot us a comment!
Happy Hunting!
After a little bit of a hiatus we are back in the video editing groove and have a fresh tip for all you Battlefield 3 fans out there. Hopefully this even grabs the attention of some of the Call of Duty fans that want something with a bit more scale. Either way it goes, we have some quick tips for you in how to bring down aircraft more effectively in Battlefield 3 using the Engineer Class and the Anti-Aircraft ‘Lock On’ Missiles.
You will need either the Stinger or the IGLA (depending on which side you are fighting for in multiplayer).
Check the video to have a walk-through of how these work best. We will be posting more videos with a focus on the engineer class in the coming days and look forward to doing a focused feature on why it is one of the best classes to use as an aggressive gamer with a penchant for destruction!
Happy Hunting!
