College Football 27 – Rainmaker Skill Tree = The Ultimate Self-Own

For those of you that haven’t heard – College Football 27 is coming out soon and it is looking like Dynasty Mode is going to be awesome. New features are pushing the off-the-field aspects into a realm many of us have been waiting for since… well, forever.

One aspect has been a tremendous let down and point of contention for fans of the game. EA has decided to lock a specific skill tree behind the MVP+ Subscription package. The skill tree is called ‘Rainmaker‘ and the abilities are as follows:

Deal Maker– “Increased recruiting influence from NIL offers.”

Budget Booster– “Increased dynasty points from my school grades.”

Stay Power– “Increased NIL offer influence to reduce the risk of a player leaving.”

Contract Incentives– “Increased dynasty points from AD expectations.”

Think for a second about what makes Dynasty the mode so many of us enjoy? For me, it has always been the nature of BUILDING a program and FIGHTING for recruits. These abilities in the Rainmaker skill tree feels very Lex Luthor. The nature of NIL and money in general are the biggest reason many people are losing interest in college sports. This skill tree should have an icon – here’s my suggestion –

In my case, I will be playing both EA Football games this year, but they can eff all the way off with their MVP+ subscription service and all the other pay to win perks. Here’s to those of us looking forward to taking a one-star school and turning it into a juggernaut and upsetting all of the Rainmaker teams out there.

Speaking of which – I strongly believe that skill trees should be at risk when a coach starts losing games they are supposed to win. Think about it.
